After we have lunch onboard, we take a trip to Ananda Temple which is very famous in Bagan for its mystery and ancient. Then we move on and get an interesting memmory by exploring a rarely visited temple by torchlight light.

At the end of day, we enjoy the incredible sunset’s plain and we hold a candle- lighting ceremony for only our guests at a small temple near our pier.

We will reach to Mandalay after a short cruise. Buddhist Alms Giving ceremony is one of the most fascinating events of Bagan, we can join in to have a good memory and experience local life on land.

During the day, our guests have two choices: Vistiting Kuthodaw Pagoda and the majestic Shwenandaw Golden Monastery which are two famous locations in Mandalay, or shopping in the city’s well-known traditional artistry, typically marble, bronze, woodcarving, and silk.

We will comeback to the ship at Shwe Kyet Yet village and have a delicous lunch after having a unforgotable tour. Then, we come to Sagaing Hills- the living center of Buddhism faithful in Burma.

At the end of day, enjoy a glass of delicious champagne during sunset and contemplate the beautiful U Bein Bridge. A farewell dinner will be hold on cruise for our guests. Then, join in a traditional entertainment event.

The ship Belmond Belmond Road to Mandalay begins at 11.30. Delicous buffet lunch is served when we cruise past the Sagaing Hills towards Mingun.

After having lunch, we prepare you a short boat to the lovely coast. Then, guests have free time to walk around Mingun, explore the old Pahtodawgyi pagoda and listen about its history. And luckily you will have chance to try to ring the 90 tonnes and 13 feet bell, the biggest one in the world. And also visit Myatheindan (Hsinbyume) Pagoda where have seven great whitewashed terraces symbolizing Mount Meru. Buddhism believe that people who can climb to the top of 88 steps will be enlightened to the nirvana. 

In the evening, you are invited to our welcome cocktail Party with the captain and officers, and other guests on on the Observation Deck. Then choose from Chef’s selection of local dishes and fusion delicacies for your first charming dinner, combining with house wines or international wines in our list.

After breakfast, we pay a visit to the village of Nwe Nyein where well-known for its high-quality ceramics. Myanmar is very famous for its ancient methods which are used to sculpt and glaze the clay pots. Guests can try to spin your own pot by hand in traditional way whenever in this short walking tour.

We disembark the ship and continue our tour. When the Belmond Belmond Road to Mandalay goes in the first scenic defile emerging a few hours later, our guests will have time to relax on the Observation Deck or swimming in the pool with romantic views.

Katha is the next place which we will visit. There was famous for a magnanimous legend about the prevention of Japan’s attack in 1942 by scuttling a fleet of riverboats. After coming to the shore, guests have free time to walk around an eventful, colorful market, then learn about local life by trishaw to the Katha Tennis Club, it is almost unchanged since its starring role in George Orwell's 1934 novel, Burmese Days. The house is well-known for his novel about the accusation of Brish colonial life. 

It will be so interesting to pedal your own trishaws and enjoy the tour around town. 

Then we come back to the cruise and continue our tour. Our guides will give passengers a various products and items used by Myanmar people.

Tonight is the memorable time to enjoy a charming performance form Shan dancer in Northeast Myanmar, telling the story of mythical half-human, half-bird creatures through dancing.

This day we visit Shwe Paw Kyun ("kyun" means island in Burmese), you will have a chance to see the architecture of fishermen’s houses and visit a small island religious community.

When Belmond Belmond Road to Mandalay goes across the Upper Ayeyarwady River, it takes two hours to pass because of the second narrow defile. At this time, passengers will have the perfect views to immerse in stunning sceney Observation Deck as the ship approaches Bhamo.

When we moor at Bhamo in the afternoon, known as the major northern trading post between China and Myanmar, is also the northernmost point of our journey. We will have half of day to take a tuk tuk and sightsee the town, shopping at a local market while we prepare supplies for a donation. As we come back to Katha, enjoy your luxurious dinner in our great original colonial buildings in town home to the British District Commissioner in the 1920s.

Today opens fascinating views of countryside life when we take a local transport to a train station, where we book a trip to Daba, a small lovely village in the teak forest.

There will have incredible sights for passenger when we pass through the mainline between Mandalay and Myitkina and the teak forests of the Gangaw Taung mountain range. This segment branch of life was first run on October 2nd 1895. It helps so much on transporting teak logs down to the steamers waiting on the river to bring them downstream.

Then we return to Belmond Road to Mandalay and relax in the afternoon cruising. Afterthat, our Housekeeping staff will teach you how to wear longyi, the Myanmar sarong worn by both men and women, and how to prepare thanaka that protect us from sunlight.

And believe us, 200-year-old U Bein Bridge will bring to you most beautiful photographs.

An early-morning visit to the village of Shwe Kyet Yet is provided for anyone who need. The lovely small village which have located at the ship’s berth for 20 years holds a special place in our hearts. Visiting the village pagoda will give you the chance to donate food to a procession of monks living in the local monastery. Also, when coming back, you can spend time walking around busy markets and teashops. 

During the day’s sailing to Bagan, you can take part in yoga or mediation on the Observation Deck, consult a fortune-teller who are a renowned astrologer, or join a mouth- watering Burmese cookery demonstration by our Chef.

In the late afternoon, when the ship is nearer to Bagan, one guide will introduce to the magnificent ancient city. 

Beside the Ayeyarwady River are over 3,000 temples, most of which were built in the years between the 11th and 13 centuries. 

Once arrived, you ride horse or cart through Old Bagan to enjoy the magnificent sunset glow, you will be taken on a route of scenes through the center of the archaeological zone, getting sightseeing of ancient pagodas and taking plenty of photos. After that, you can join a procession to a small temple near to the jetty to experience Belmond – a ceremony with magical candle-lighting.

In the evening, enjoy the classical marionette performed on board. In the past, these shows were allowed in royalty, according to stories from the early life of Buddha. However, the performances contains meaningful messages from citizens to the King.

Sunrise Hot - Air Balloon Ride (Available October - March. Advance reservations essential. Supplement applies)

If you are looking for a breathtaking experience, do not miss our sunrise Hot-Air Balloon. It has no doubt that the scenery of sunrise will be in your heart. Guests are collected at around 05.00 and returned to the ship at 08.30.

Bagan by Bicycle (Advance reservations essential. English-language tour only, Supplement applies)

Bicycle is one of the most favotite sports in Bagan. You can choose drive by yourself or join with our staff. Riding your bicycle along small paths and roads and feeling the wind blows is also great. It is suitable for beginners and the other cyclists should try dirt road surfaces with patches of sand.

We have breakfast and then comeback to the ship for morning tour. 

Start with a visit to a strange complex near Minnanthu to explore a special temples and learn how we say it “special”. And we also visit Ananda Temple, one of the most beautiful pagodas in Mandalay with many incredible things. The lacquerware workshop will also make you surprise because of the exquisite patience and skill required to produce these finely detailed pieces.

We embark the cruise and have delicious lunch.

In the afternoon, do not forget to visit the famous Sulamani (“crowning jewel”) pagoda, known for the exhibits dating from the 12th to 18th centuries. And finally, the scenery of sunset through hundreds of pagodas is truly charming. 

In another tour, you can choose visiting Mt Popa, the traditional home of the 37 Nats or animist spirits, which have come in Myanmar since long before the arrival of Buddhism. It takes two hours to reach to Popa, but a stop en route at a toddy palm plantation is always ready to show you traditional methods of food or palm sugar. You will take 777 steps reach to the top mix of Nat and Buddhist shrines.

Disembark the ship, a various series of friendly farewell celebrations is served from a cocktail party and an elephant dance on the Observation Deck, and a luxurious dinner in the restaurant.
