Katha is the next place which we will visit. There was famous for a magnanimous legend about the prevention of Japan’s attack in 1942 by scuttling a fleet of riverboats. After coming to the shore, guests have free time to walk around an eventful, colorful market, then learn about local life by trishaw to the Katha Tennis Club, it is almost unchanged since its starring role in George Orwell's 1934 novel, Burmese Days. After breakfast, we visit the small village of Ma Lae, where you will be surprise of many things. In here you will witness a Buddhist Noviciation Ceremony, one of the most important of any Buddhist families and the whole village. This means the significance of becoming monks of boys. You will explore it through this walking tour.
Then we disembark the ship and listen to a talk on the Past, Present and Future of Myanmar from our guide.
After having a sweet dinner onboard, we escort you to the Lounge & Bar. Let’s have fun with our show “ The Lady”, the interesting story of Aung San Suu Kyi while our chef give you fresh popcorn and homemade ice cream.

As we expect, when the Belmond Road to Mandalay moors at Htin- Win jetty, we will have all day to discover how beautiful Mandaylay is. It is known as the heart of Myanmar and homeland of Burmese traditional arts.
We visit some of Mandalay’s great treasures with our guides like Kuthodaw Pagoda and Shwenandaw which are two famous place you will never want to miss.
We have great lunch at Bistro 82 in the city centre. In the afternoon, guest will be surprise of the marble district, in here the handicrafts worker sculpt Buddhas of all sizes and the creation of statuesque Buddha images and ceremonial gongs. And believe us, 200-year-old U Bein Bridge will bring to you most beautiful photographs.
Dining under starry sky at the Road to Mandalay Grill on the Observation Deck closes a long day.

An early-morning visit to the village of Shwe Kyet Yet is provided for anyone who need. The lovely small village which have located at the ship’s berth for 20 years holds a special place in our hearts. Visiting the village pagoda will give you the chance to donate food to a procession of monks living in the local monastery. Also, when coming back, you can spend time walking around busy markets and teashops.
During the day’s sailing to Bagan, you can take part in yoga or mediation on the Observation Deck, consult a fortune-teller who are a renowned astrologer, or join a mouth- watering Burmese cookery demonstration by our Chef.
In the late afternoon, when the ship is nearer to Bagan, one guide will introduce to the magnificent ancient city.
Beside the Ayeyarwady River are over 3,000 temples, most of which were built in the years between the 11th and 13 centuries.
Once arrived, you ride horse or cart through Old Bagan to enjoy the magnificent sunset glow, you will be taken on a route of scenes through the center of the archaeological zone, getting sightseeing of ancient pagodas and taking plenty of photos. After that, you can join a procession to a small temple near to the jetty to experience Belmond – a ceremony with magical candle-lighting.
In the evening, enjoy the classical marionette performed on board. In the past, these shows were allowed in royalty, according to stories from the early life of Buddha. However, the performances contains meaningful messages from citizens to the King.

There are always two activities you must try when coming to Bagan.
Sunrise Hot - Air Balloon Ride (Available October - March. Advance reservations essential. Supplement applies)
If you are looking for a breathtaking experience, do not miss our sunrise Hot-Air Balloon. It has no doubt that the scenery of sunrise will be in your heart. Guests are collected at around 05.00 and returned to the ship at 08.30.
Bagan by Bicycle (Advance reservations essential. English-language tour only, Supplement applies)
Bicycle is one of the most favotite sports in Bagan. You can choose drive by yourself or join with our staff. Riding your bicycle along small paths and roads and feeling the wind blows is also great. It is suitable for beginners and the other cyclists should try dirt road surfaces with patches of sand.
We have breakfast and then comeback to the ship for morning tour.
Start with a visit to a strange complex near Minnanthu to explore a special temples and learn how we say it “special”. And we also visit Ananda Temple, one of the most beautiful pagodas in Mandalay with many incredible things. The lacquerware workshop will also make you surprise because of the exquisite patience and skill required to produce these finely detailed pieces.
We embark the cruise and have delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, do not forget to visit the famous Sulamani (“crowning jewel”) pagoda, known for the exhibits dating from the 12th to 18th centuries. And finally, the scenery of sunset through hundreds of pagodas is truly charming.
In another tour, you can choose visiting Mt Popa, the traditional home of the 37 Nats or animist spirits, which have come in Myanmar since long before the arrival of Buddhism. It takes two hours to reach to Popa, but a stop en route at a toddy palm plantation is always ready to show you traditional methods of food or palm sugar. You will take 777 steps reach to the top mix of Nat and Buddhist shrines.
Disembark the ship, a various series of friendly farewell celebrations is served from a cocktail party and an elephant dance on the Observation Deck, and a luxurious dinner in the restaurant.

BELMOND ROAD TO MANDALAY POLICY
1. Alteration of schedule and cruise itinerary
In spite of the fact that we will do our best to assure that the announced itinerary is followed at the strictest possible level, occasionally, we might have to alter or delay the schedules and itineraries in the last minute due to the uncertainty of local weather and river conditions.
2. Deposit
2.1. For booking with less than 06 cabins
If you book your cabins more than 65 days in advance of the departure date, you are required to deposit 30% of the total charge at the booking time. The remaining amount must be paid within 65 days before the departure date.
For the booking made less than 65 days prior to departure date, you are required to make full payment of the fare within 48 hours.
2.2. For booking from 06 cabins and more
If you book your cabins more than 95 days in advance of the departure date, you are required to deposit 30% of the total charge at the booking time. The remaining amount must be paid within 65 days before the departure date.
If you book your cabins between 94 and 65 days in advance of the departure date, you are required to deposit 50% of the total charge at the booking time. The remaining amount must be paid within 65 days before the departure date.
If you book your cabins less than 65 days in advance of the departure date, you are required to make full payment of the fare within 48 hours.
3. Cancellation by us
Under the circumstance that a cruise cannot be operated for passengers with confirm bookings or departures because the minimum number of passengers for the ship to sail is not satisfied, Belmond Road to Mandalay has the rights to call off the cruise. We will notify the passengers with confirmed booking about the cancellation 50 days in advance. A substitute cruise ship (with parallel itinerary and ship type) or an alternative departure date will be proposed depending on its availability. If the passengers do not agree with the alternative ship or departure, we will make full refund of the deposit amounts upon the demand of the passengers.
4. Cancellation by Customer
If you or any other members of your party want to cancel your booking, you must inform us via fax or email. E-mail cancellation or booking amendments are only effective once re-confirmed by us.
4.1. That person(s) may transfer their place to someone else (introduced by you) and in respect of whom the Lead Passenger will need to give the confirmations and representations not less than 30 days before departure and you pay an amendment fee in accordance with the table below and meet all costs and charges incurred by us and/or incurred or imposed by any of our suppliers.

4.2. If you or other members could not transfer place to someone else. The following cancellation fee will be applied:
Cancellations made 65 days or more before departure: 20% charge of total price
Cancellations made 64 to 31 days prior to departure: 35% charge of total price
Cancellations made 29 to 10 days prior to departure: 75% charge of total price
Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to departure or no show: 100% charge of total price
*In the event of cancellations, wire fees and credit card commissions will be deducted when calculating refunds.
5. Force Majeure
Unless there are points clearly stated in this policy, we will bear no responsibility of making compensation for you if the fulfillment of our obligations in the contract is influenced by unpredictable or unavoidable events that out of the control of us or the supplier(s). These events include, but is not limited to, war, threat of war, civil conflict, terrorist activity and its consequences or the threat of such activity, riot, the act of any government or other national or local authority including port or river authorities, industrial dispute, lock closure, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, chemical or biological disaster, adverse weather, sea, air, ice and river conditions and all similar events.
6. Insurance
We highly recommend that travelers have their trip cancellation covered. We also advise the guests to purchase insurance for medical matters, luggage loss and delay of the trip in case of unfavorable situations. Belmond Road to Mandalay will not be liable for the loss of personal belongings.
7. Dietary needs
If the guests have exceptional dietary needs, they should contact with us 30 days in advance of the departure. The cruise will exert all possible efforts to satisfy the exceptional dietary needs and demands depending on the availability of the goods.
