The city tour will begin as soon as you arrive at the destination. The horse carriage is our main transportation in Ava. We will visit some notable architectures here such as the gorgeous monastery of Bagaya Kyaung, Maha Aung Mye Bonzan Monastery and the watch tower – Namyint. After that, find a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy a cup of tea before returning to the ship for lunch.  

Continue to cruise to Mandalay. You can see the splendid Sagaing Hill standing magnificently on the bank of Ayeyarwaddy river. The greenery hill is dotted with hundreds of white and golden – top stupas making it a significant landmark near Mandalay.

When we arrive in Mandalay in the afternoon, we will pay a visit to some notable workshops of the city like the gold leaf beating, the silk weaving or marble carving. At the end of the day, you will have an opportunity to admire the wonderful sunset moment on the world’s longest teak bridge – U Bein.

Return to Anawrahta cruise and enjoy the performance of dance and music before having dinner. Then, the dinner will be followed by the open air movie night on the sundeck (depends on the weather conditions).

Have your breakfast before our trip around Mandalay begins. First, we will visit Kuthodaw pagoda which is recognized as the world’s largest book. It feature a gilded pagoda and hundreds of white marble slabs inscribed with Buddha teachings. Mahamuni pagoda is our next stop where contains the 1 of 5 most likeliness Buddha images in the world. And finally, a visit to Shwenandaw monastery with it sophisticated wooden architecture from the 19th century will end our tour.

A horse carriage tour around the city includes the following attractions: Bagaya Kyaung – a stunning teak monastery constructed in 1834, Maha Aung Mye Bonzan Monastery and the beautiful architecture and art of the watch tower Nanmyint. It will be nice to have a cup of tea here in this scenic surroundings before going back to the ship.

A balloon riding will be offered at dawn as your wish (the service requires to book in advance with an extra cost).

The tour around Bagan will start with a visit to the bustling Nyaung Oo market - a truly authentic Burmese bazaar where local people all around Bagan gather selling their products. This is a great chance to experience the local life as well as to save great photos to your collection. Afterwards, we will a pay a visit to the shimmering Shwezigon pagoda which is one of the most popular attractions in the plain of temples. We will visit a lacquerware workshop next to learn about the history and the procedure of making this wonderful items. The last stop of this morning trip is the Wetkyi – In Gubyaukgyi Pagoda to contemplate an impressive collection of the splendid frescoes inside the construction. Back to the ship for lunch.

There are two options for the afternoon excursion for you to choose. The first is to visit the nearby Mount Popa monastery. Located in a unique location of an extinct volcano, the monastery is said to worship the Burmese animist spirits – the Nats. On the way, we can stop at the palm sugar plantation to observe the way to make the local candies. 

For those who go for the second option, Myinkaba village is your stop. The area is a perfect place to buy lacquerware where a great number of workshop situated. You can also visit the outstanding architecture of Gubyaukyi temple and Manuha pagoda.

We will explore the highlights of Monywa by bus. Our first stop is the magnificent architecture of Thanboddhay Pagoda (known as Thambuddhei Paya) where contains more than 500,000 Buddha statues and hundreds of golden spires. Afterwards, we will visit the second tallest Buddha image in the world having the height of 116 meters with an interior filled with mural paintings.

This morning, we arrive at Moktaw. This is a typical village located on the bank of Chindwin river. Go around and explore the local culture here. Our excursion today will start with a walk around Maukkadaw village. The old teak enterprises will be our first stop. They belong to the time when Maukkaudaw is still a busy teak port. A small lesson about Burmese speaking language will be prepared in the Mandalay Lounge in order to help passengers to learn some simple phrases for a visit to the market the following day. Arrive at Kalaywa in the evening.

It takes 1 hour drive on tuk tuk to get to the market at Kalaywa – the gateway to Chin State which is close to the border of India. You are free this morning. You can choose to join in our lecture on board or lazing around watching the spectacular scenery passing by. We approach Sittaung in the afternoon - a small village with only 28 houses and 20o people. The excursion will take us to the river ships of Irrawaddy Flotilla Company which was the greatest ever been assembled in the world. However, in the WW II, most of them were scuttled to prevent Japanese army from making use of. Lunch will be served on board in Kipling’s Bar as we sail upstream.

We approach the small town of Taguang where we have a late afternoon tour exploring the life along the river bank, the ancient fort and some famous stupas.

A refreshing Yoga session is held on the sun deck for those who can wake up early this morning. As we sail toward to the charming town of Katha, you can relax and enjoy the unrivalled facilities on board of Anawrahta cruise like indulging in the Swedish - style sauna of the spa or taking a dip in the open – air swimming pool while watching the scenery passing through. 

Described beautifully in the book “Burmese Days” by George Orwell, the old colonial town of Katha still keeps its enchanting features till the present day.   

We will arrive in Katha in the early afternoon and then our tour around this town will begin.  Among many places of interest, the fire stations which contains the collections of bell of Irrawaddy Flotilla Company’s fleets sunken in the WWII are worth to visit. There are also a lot of ship remnants founded in Katha as hundreds of vessels were scuttled in 1942 to against the Japanese’s invader.

In addition, we will visit almost every places written in the book so that guests can have a glimpse of life of the by – gone era.

Today morning, we will take a scenic train from Katha to Naba through the lush vegetation and charming villages of Kachin state. After finishing the trip, we go back to Katha for a market visit. You can find many items here in the vivid market of Katha as well as practice some Burmese phrases learned in the lecture on board. 

Enjoy your time on board while we ply upstream to Shwe Gu in the afternoon. The afternoon tea will be followed by a lecture about Burmese history and the current events. And when the sun casts its orange glow on all over the horizon, a special event which takes the theme of a British Club will take place in the Kipling’s Bar.

And for an exhilarating movie night, join us in the open – air cinema on the sun deck after dinner.

Try to wake up early this morning as we approach the spectacular Second defile of Irrawaddy river which flanked by the vertical cliffs. The scenery promises to be impressive and extremely amazing. Breakfast will be served on the sun deck as the ship cruises through the Defile so that guests cannot miss a wonderful experience. It takes about 2 hours to get to the other end and around 25 minutes to cruise back to the starting point from the moment turning at Sinkan Bridge.

Continue our voyage to Kyun Daw Island where you will have a chance to discover numerous stupas as well as explore the lifestyle and the culture of the people living along the river. Go back to Anawrahta Cruise for lunch as we continue to navigate southwards the Irrawaddy river. In the evening, enjoy the traditional dance performance on board after dinner.

Waking up early this morning to join in a Yoga session on the sun deck which will help you to relax and improve your health. As you will spend this whole morning on board, there are many interesting activities for you to engage in like a lecture of “Religion in Myanmar”, an informal Burmese language lesson or a presentation about betel – chewing and cheroot – smoking.

We approach the beautiful fishing village of Hsithe in the early afternoon. Here, you can meet with the people who implement the fishing cooperatives with the endangered species of Irrawaddy river – the Dolphin. Furthermore, you take a walk around the village to know about the agriculture products or learn how to make a traditional fishing net. 

Then, the afternoon tea will be served at the visitor center of the village with a compelling presentation about the wildlife, the river and the locals.

Back to the ship for dinner. And afterwards, you can join in the movie night with the villagers on the shore.

Enjoy your last cruising day on board of Anawrahta Cruise as we navigate to Mandalay. On the way, you will have a chance to see an enormous architecture of Mingun which was left incomplete from the ancient time for the prophecy: “if the temple would be completed, the king will die”.

In the late afternoon, we arrive in Mandalay. Then, we pay a visit to the former capital of Myanmar – Amarapura where is famous for the traditional silk weaving, silver and bronze casting. At the end of the day, we will stop at the longest teak bridge in the world – U Bein to contemplate the magnificent sunset.

Dinner will be served on board followed by some farewell entertainments including a Ramayana show, a folk story and a performance of traditional musical instruments.

Around 12:00am, get on board of Anawrahta Cruise at the pier of Mandalay’s riverside. Settle in your cabin and unpack your luggage after a hospitable and gracious welcome party. Then, enjoy your lunch in the “Hintha Hall” restaurant while the ship start to cruise to the first destination of our itinerary – the ancient capital of Sagaing. After that, relax and savor in a nice glass of cocktail at the open – air Kipling’s Bar. 

When we arrive in Sagaing, a day tour around the city and its neighboring town– Ava will begin. Ava is also happened to be an ancient capital of Myanmar from 14th to 19th centuries featuring some magnificent architectures. After exploring the highlights of Sagaing, we will cross over Ava bridge which connects the 2 cities to Inwa (also known as Ava).

Taking a horse cart ride in Ava is a great way to discover the hidden charms of the city. We will pay a visit to a gorgeous teak monastery and also known as a school named Bagaya Kyaung built in 1834. Our next stops are Maha Aung Mye Bonzan monastery and the watch tower of Nanmyint which are famous for the unique designs and sophisticated decorations. Choose a nice place to enjoy a small picnic teatime here in the laid – back atmosphere of the ancient city. 

Return to Anawrahta cruise for some more interesting activities on board like Longyi wearing and Thanaka applying demonstrations or a presentation about Burma culture and history. 

Before having your gourmet dinner, our cruise manager will invite you to a cocktail party at the Kipling’s Bar.

Early this morning, we offer a Yoga session on the sun deck for those who wish to rejuvenate their body and soul. Our destination today is the pottery village of Yandabo. 

Your breakfast will then followed by a lecture about Bagan history. During the cruising time, find pleasure in the luxuries aboard of Anawrahta cruise. You can whether spoil yourself in the modern spa or relax in the outdoor swimming pool watching the beautiful passing scenery. 

Lunch will be served on board before the ship reaches to the shore of the riverside village – Yandabo. Known as the place where to sign the agreement ending the first Anglo – Burmese War, Yandabo today makes its name nationwide by the high quality pottery products. Our knowledgeable guide will explain why the pottery products are so special.

Stroll around the village to experience the local life. You can see that the people here are very friendly who are always opening to talk with the visitors with a great smile. What is more, you can have a chance to create your own pottery product after watching the craftsmen use their incredible techniques to form a beautiful item.  

Back to Anawrahta cruise for the teatime. Then, the ship continues to navigate to the trading town of Pakokku passing through the confluence of Irrawaddy river and its greatest tributary – Chindwin river.  

When the orange glow of the sun colors the horizon, it’s time to join in a special event called “a toast to the past” which follows the style of the old British club. This is where guests come to share their stories of the old time or simply to listen to a classic piece of music. 

Dinner will be served at “Hintha Hall” restaurant. And after that, participate in a movie night on the sun deck if you are interested.

Try to wake up early this morning to join in our Yoga lesson on the sun deck as it is a great way to start a new day. 

Enjoy your breakfast whilst the ship cruises to the south a few more miles before approaching the shore of Pakokku. Situated on the west bank of Irrawaddy River, Pakokku is an old port town knowing for the making of Burmese cigar - cheroot and Burmese flip flops. You can spot the longest bridge in Myanmar - Pakokku from far distance.

Leaving the ship, we start visiting the local manufactures of cheroot and slippers. Next, we will stop by a colorful market where you can find a lot of interesting local - made stuffs as well as get to know about an aspect of life.   

Afterwards, we will drop by Shwegu Pagoda where you can observe the elaborate Yamanei woodworks. The stupa also houses a gorgeous seated Buddha image. 

Return to your cruise and keep on sailing to the south towards the mystical plain of Bagan. Early in the afternoon in Bagan, say goodbye to the crew before checking out of the ship.

You will be transferred to the quay of Mandalay to embark on Anawrahta cruise at around 12.00am. After a welcoming party, settle at your stateroom and unpack your stuffs. The ship then starts to cruise towards Sagaing Hill while lunch is served at Hintha Restaurant. 

When reaching to Sagaing Hill, the shore excursion will start with a visit to Ava. Being known as the capital of Myanmar from 14th to 19th centuries, Ava has some outstanding monuments that worth visiting. A horse carriage tour around the city includes the following attractions: Bagaya Kyaung – a stunning teak monastery constructed in 1834, Maha Aung Mye Bonzan Monastery and the beautiful architecture and art of the watch tower Nanmyint. It will be nice to have a cup of tea here in this scenic surroundings before going back to the ship. 

The longyi wearing and Thanaka applying demonstrations will be held on board as well as a lecture of Myanmar’s history. You can either take part in these activities or grab a cup of cocktail on the sun deck and enjoy the scenery. Dinner will be served afterwards.

If you can wake up early, you can take part in a yoga session on the sundeck with our expert. And then, enjoy you breakfast as the ship continues to navigate to Yandabo. This is a small village on the bank of Irrawaddy river which is known as the place to produce the finest pots in the country. 

During the cruising time, you can indulge yourself in the wonderful spa treatments or in a relaxing sunbathing on the sun deck. And for those who are interested in the history of Bagan, a presentation will be given. 

Lunch will be served on board. And when the ship arrive at the shore, we will make a tour around the area. Meeting with the people, trying making a pottery product or getting to know about the story of the village are some of the most interesting things to do.  

Return to the ship for the next journey to Pakokku. Enjoy a cup of tea and the breath – taking sunset aboard of Anawrahta cruise. An event called “A toast to the past” is also prepared for guests gather around and talk about the Burmese in the old days. 

Hintha Hall is where you have your dinner. And if the weather permits, an open – air cinema will be set up on the sun deck.

A yoga session on the sun deck is a great way to start your day with full of activities. Then, enjoy your breakfast on board while the ship keep cruising for a few miles to Pakokku – a riverside village which is famous for the cheroot – Burmese cigar manufacturing and Burmese flip flops. 

Upon arrival, we will explore the cheroot and slippers factories in the area to know how the products are made. Next, a visit to the local market is an interesting choice for this day tour offering a wide range of local items from daily supplies to souvenirs and chances to interact with local people.  

And after visiting Shwegu Temple which owns the sophisticated decorations of Yamanei wood carvings and a gorgeous Buddha statue, we will return to Anawrahta cruise and continue our voyage to Bagan.

Take your time to explore the magnificent of the temple plain of Bagan with more than 2,000 red brick constructions dotted in the massive area. You can pay a visit to some of the most beautiful stupas here like the stunning Sulamani pagoda or the marvelous Ananda temple. When the day comes to an end, enjoy the magical sunset over Bagan on the top of a pagoda. 

Head back to the ship to relax after a busy sightseeing day. Enjoy a performance of the traditional Bagan dance at the Mandalay Lounge that followed by a gourmet dinner. And if the weather allows, an open air cinema on the sun deck will give you a remember night with a good movie.
